  21.         When a Supra modem goes into flash mode it checks several things in 
  22. the data being downloaded to it.  The first thing it checks is the embedded 
  23. checksums in the flash data file, this makes sure that the file hasn't been 
  24. corrupted.  Before it begins to write the flash memory it checks an id 
  25. string in the downloaded data to see if it matches the id string in the modem.
  26. If the id string in the flash data file does not match the modem aborts the 
  27. download and then resets.  If the id strings do match the modem will write the 
  28. downloaded data to the flash memory and then continue the download of the 
  29. remainder of the flash data file.

  31.         The PC and Mac flasher programs also know how to read the id string 
  32. from the modem and how to read it from the flash data file.  They won't even 
  33. attempt to flash a modem with the wrong data file, instead they will display a 
  34. message saying they don't have a flash data file for the modem.

  36.         If you are manually flashing the modem you can attempt to send the 
  37. wrong flash data file to the modem.  This will fail due to the incorrect modem 
  38. id string in the data file, as explained above.
